Departure Berlin

The images shown here were collected over several years of commuting within the beautiful and gritty city of Berlin. The places I saw are usually busy, loud and dirty but also vibrant, alive and exciting. What I wanted to capture was a certain empty essence, a quality of nothingness and transience. There is a calm sadness in these images but also an invitation to imagine the other places people go to or come from. Home, work, shopping, friends and lovers.
