I have been using a Fujifilm X100T and later X100F for three years. This camera with it’s single focal length was meant to make me rediscover what photography is all about. Not buying new gear but being creative. The limits set by the camera and the ability to produce wonderful images straight from the camera without any post-processing was liberating.
But I reached the end of what I want to do with this camera. I will explain more in a “my life in cameras” post. Now I am the proud owner of a brand new (well I bought it used but it was essential untouched) Fujifilm X-T3.
I wanted to experiment with different manual and especially old lenses. See how they render, what kind of characteristics they have and enjoy the process of manually setting focus. The Fuji X-T3 seems like an ideal camera for this purpose with it’s dials for shutter speed, ISO and exposure compensation. Also vintage lenses are rather cheap compared to modern lenses (although prices recently went up quite a bit, adapting old glass is very popular these days) and the images they produce are not as “clinically” clean and sharp.
