That is how my local park looked with rather severe storm damage. Heavy storms are not really the norm in mainland Germany but they do occur mostly in late autumn and early winter. The park was not very well maintained due to budget cuts and the storm took its toll.

The whole area looked like a tangled mess of twigs and branches and I wanted my picture to captured this messiness. As this was on the typical grey winter days black and white was chosen to overcome the lack color. In fact many wintry days can be rescued by shooting in black and white while color often requires certain lights to be “beautiful”. Of course you can shoot in harsh sunlight or grey overcast sky for certain effects.
